Dressed in green, the 96-year-old sovereign, absent from most of the events of her platinum jubilee, walked out accompanied by her heirs Princes Charles and William, with wives and children, before the British anthem “God Save” rang out. the Queen”.
The queen greeted the crowd with a smile during this brief appearance, before slowly returning to the palace.
Thousands of people had massed in front of the palace, at the end of the parade which had put an end to four days of celebrations, for the 70 years of reign of Elizabeth II, ascended to the throne at 25 years old in 1952 , an unequaled longevity for a British sovereign.
Some moved people sang the national anthem in unison, aware of the fragile health of the sovereign.
