Westerners just discovered monkey pox? Piero Olliaro has known this disease for a long time. This Genevan, who works for the University of Oxford, has been studying for two years the effectiveness of tecovirimat, a treatment against the infection which is experiencing an outbreak in the West.

Until now, his research took place in the Central African Republic, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of this country, the Pasteur Institute in Bangui, the University of Oxford and the manufacturer of tecovirimat, Siga. From now on, scientists from several European countries, and in particular from Switzerland, should participate.
