Surco Municipality prohibits activity of window cleaners on public roads

Given the increase in reported cases of drivers who report having been victims of alleged windshield wipers, who threaten them if they do not receive money in return, the Municipality of Surco decided to take action on the matter. By means of an ordinance, it prohibits the activity of window cleaners on public roads.

The mayoral decree No. 08-2023-MSS, which bears the signature of the burgomaster Carlos Bruceindicates “that the ambulatory activity of washing windshields and others on public roads is a prohibited activity in the district of Santiago de Surco, in application of Ordinance N|540-MSS”.

In the same way, the aforementioned measure decrees a table of infractions for those who carry out this activity and for owners who allow or authorize the washing of their vehicle on public roads.

For this reason, the person who carries out commercial activities on public roads without municipal authorization will be penalized with 35% of a Tax Unit (UIT). The same will also be done with the owner for proceeding or allowing third parties to wash their vehicle on public roads, in this case the fine is 10% of a UIT.

For his part, the mayor of said district, Carlos Bruce, used his social networks to report on this provision, recalling the unfortunate event last Wednesday, where a subject murdered a driver for refusing to pay him for cleaning his car. .

“Following acts of violence that have been occurring in the capital, today I have signed a mayoral decree ordering the Serenazgo, in coordination with the National Policethat they eradicate the activity of window cleaners and car washers on public roads in Surco”, pointed out Bruce Montes de Oca.
