Supreme Court will not hear Bill Cosby case

The US Supreme Court does not want to deal with the case of Bill Cosby. The Supreme Court announced today in Washington that the case had been rejected – without giving details of the reasoning. The 84-year-old remains at large, at least for the time being.

About four months ago, the responsible public prosecutor’s office in the US state of Pennsylvania submitted a petition to the Supreme Court in order to use it to challenge the actor’s surprising release.

Cosby was sentenced to a minimum of three years and a maximum of 10 years in prison for sexual assault in 2018. More than 60 women had accused the actor and comedian of various kinds of sexual assault. The entertainer had always rejected the allegations.

After Cosby had spent around three years in prison, the highest court in Pennsylvania surprisingly overturned his conviction in June – the actor was released. Because of an agreement with a prosecutor previously involved in the case, Cosby should not have been charged in this matter, the court argued.
