New Delhi: Petition in the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of the State Film Award announcement. The petition was filed by Lijeesh Mullezham, the director of the movie ‘Akasath Mukta’. The demand in the petition is that there is bias in the determination of film awards and the awards should be cancelled.
It has been alleged in the petition that the jury members themselves have made disclosures regarding the interference in the decision of the award. The petition also alleged nepotism and irregular interference on the part of the chairman of the academy in deciding the award.
The High Court had earlier rejected the petition filed by Lijeesh Mullezhat. The petition was filed by advocates KN Prabhu and Ribin Gralan.
