The Minister of the Supreme Court of Justice Juan Carlos Maqueda suffered this Saturday “a slight trauma and a superficial cut on the chin” following being run over by a cyclist in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Recoleta. As a result of this fact, the magistrate was referred to the Argentine Institute of Diagnosis, where a routine study was carried out, according to police sources.
When crossing Suipacha Street at 1100, Maqueda was hit from the left by a cyclist, which caused him to fall, causing a chin injury and a strong blow.
Personnel from the 1A Neighborhood Police Station of the City of Buenos Aires intervened, summoning SAME personnel to take the judge of the highest court to the Fernández Hospital, where he underwent a routine examination.
The Minister of the Court was then transferred to the Argentine Institute of Diagnosis, where a tomography was performed, which determined that there was no neurological damage as a result of the incident.
The East Flagrancy Unit, in charge of Dr. Suarez, intervenes in the event, who initiated proceedings for “culpable injuries”.
Police spokesmen confirmed that Maqueda had a suture in the chin due to the cut suffered in the fall and will remain under observation since he has a cardiac history.
In January of this year, the magistrate had been hospitalized urgently following suffering cardiac decompensation. The judge had broken down while he was having lunch at a restaurant in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Recoleta. He then he was transferred to the Argentine Institute of Diagnosis and Treatment (IADT), where he stayed for a few days and was discharged following presenting an improvement in his health.
