“Supreme Court in Saudi Arabia Schedules Inquiry into 2023 Ramadan Crescent”

The Supreme Court in Saudi Arabia has urged all Muslims to look for the sighting of the crescent of the month of Ramadan next Tuesday evening, according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar, which corresponds to March 21, 2023. The court stated that Tuesday, corresponding to February 21, 2023, marked the beginning of the month of Sha’ban for the year 1444 AH, according to a previous Supreme Court Decision No. (167 AH). It urged whoever witnesses the crescent with the naked eye or through binoculars to inform the nearest court or contact the nearest center to help him or her reach the nearest court. The court has requested those who have the ability to join the committees formed in their regions and participate in the event. Such cooperation would be considered an act of righteousness and piety, benefiting all Muslims.

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Supreme Court in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia called, on Sunday, “all Muslims throughout the Kingdom to investigate the sighting of the crescent of the month of Ramadan, next Tuesday evening, according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar, corresponding to March 21, 2023.” According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

And the Supreme Court stated in a statement: “Given what was included in the previous Supreme Court Decision No. (167 AH) that Tuesday, corresponding to February 21, 2023, is the beginning of the month of Sha’ban for the year 1444 AH, the Supreme Court wishes all Muslims throughout the Kingdom to investigate the sighting of the new moon. The month of Ramadan is on the evening of Tuesday, 8/29/1444 AH, corresponding to March 21, 20223 AD, according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar. According to the statement.

The statement added: “The Supreme Court requests that whoever sees the crescent with the naked eye, or through binoculars, inform the nearest court to him and register his testimony there, or contact the nearest center, to help him reach the nearest court.”

And she said: “The Supreme Court hopes that those who have the ability to show interest in this matter, and join the committees formed in the regions for this purpose, and calculate the reward and reward for participation, because it is cooperation in righteousness and piety, and benefit to all Muslims,” according to the Saudi agency.
