The Supreme Court (MA) formed a team of examiners tasked with clarifying the panel of cassation judges who tried the murder case involving defendant Ronald Tannur.

This decision was taken after the case emerged of a former high-ranking Supreme Court official, Zarof Ricar (ZR), who was arrested by the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) because he was suspected of being a cassation broker in the Ronald Tannur case.

“Based on the meeting of the leadership of the Supreme Court today, Monday 28 October 2024, the leadership of the Supreme Court collectively collegiately has decided to form a team of examiners whose task is to provide clarification to the Panel of Cassation Judges in the Ronald Tannur case,” said MA spokesperson Yanto in a press conference, Today.

The examination team is chaired by supreme judge Dwiarso Budi Santiarto with members consisting of Jupriyadi and Nor Ediyono who is the Secretary to the Head of the Supreme Court Supervisory Body.

“To the public to give trust and time to the team to carry out this task, then wait for the results of the clarification promoted by the team,” he said.

It was previously known that the Supreme Court overturned Ronald Tannur’s acquittal decision by sentencing him to five years in prison. The punishment was considered too light.

Ronald Tannur was proven to have violated Article 351 Paragraph (3) of the Criminal Code concerning abuse that resulted in the death of a person, namely Dini Sera Afriyanti (29). This provision regulates the threat of imprisonment for a maximum of seven years. (Fic/P-2)
