Mr. Guterres made the call in a message marking the International Day of Remembrance, in honor of the victims of terrorism, which falls on Monday, August 21.

This year, the theme of this international day is “Our Legacy: Recovering Hope and Building a Peaceful Future”.

“On this special Day, we pay tribute to all those who lost their lives or were injured in terrorist attacks all over the world,” Mr. Guterres said. “We salute the extraordinary work done by the victims and survivors who have decided to put their experience at the service of change”.

“Let us pledge to support victims and survivors, to spread their message, to work together so that the lives destroyed or transformed by terrorism are never forgotten. And to build a better future for all humanity”, did he declare.

In 2017, the UN General Assembly set August 21 as the date of the International Day of Remembrance, in honor of the victims of terrorism.
