PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia (GoTo) officially launched the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program through a corporate social responsibility (CSR) scheme. The company targets distribution of around three million portions of MBG.
This program has been tested since May 20 2024, reaching more than 10 thousand students in 31 schools spread across 13 cities/districts, namely Bogor, East Jakarta, Bekasi, Bandung, Solo, Semarang, Surabaya, Malang, Medan, Makassar, Banjarmasin , Pekanbaru and Palembang.
“We are holding this program to follow up on the directions given by President Prabowo Subianto. This program is a concrete manifestation of GoTo Group’s commitment as the work of the nation’s children who are fighting for Indonesia and always go hand in hand with the government in various Indonesian economic development initiatives,” said GoTo Main Director Patrick Walujo in an official statement in Jakarta, Thursday (7/11).

He said the program was carried out by empowering micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), driver partners and digital wallets which are part of the GoTo ecosystem.
The MSME elements involved have been ensured to meet hygiene and safety standards certified by the Indonesian Classification Bureau (BKI), monitored by the local Health Service and Education Service.
GoTo is said to also have the opportunity to measure the economic impact of the multiplier effect, get input regarding menu variations, timeliness of food preparation and delivery, price of food products provided to beneficiary students, as well as efforts to minimize food waste.
Research from the Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (Indef) on the trial of the GoTo MBG CSR program which was carried out during May-September 2024 showed that there was an average of three additional workers in MSMEs involved in the program. In addition, MSMEs’ net income increased by 33.7 percent per month compared to before participating in the trial.
“Driver partners involved in this program also received a 17% increase in net income,” the report said. (Ant/Z-11)
