The challenge was to support two associations: Joa joie, which works with children with cancer, and Jeune et rose, for women with breast cancer.
“The Joa-Joie association aims to improve the daily lives of sick children hospitalized for cancer or long-term illnesses. It has been bringing smiles and memories to these sick children for almost 20 years,” explains its representative, Daniel Fita. As for the Jeune et rose association, it is “a collective of patients affected or having been affected by breast cancer between the ages of 20 and 40. The association founded in 2017 aims to change the way we look at the disease, because Facing breast cancer at a young age poses very specific difficulties,” adds Alexandra Bohn, Jeune et rose ambassador.
Seamless mobilization
“Success is in the memories that we have shared together and which will remain present. Succeeding in raising awareness on a subject that is so present, which takes with it, our loved ones”, declared Carole Colménéro, municipal councilor, when presenting the check .
Solidarity is not an empty word in the town and this year the challenge was to raise funds to support these two associations. Carole Colménéro mobilized many artists who generously participated in a solidarity concert. Volunteers too. And the success was complete.
Didier Serrat, president of the Merchants’ Association, mobilized his network to collect prizes for the raffle. Sylvie Trotin, deputy delegate for culture, mobilized the artists for this operation with the help of Yolande Lafrançaise, elected official and artist who created a collective painting with the students of the drawing workshop, the first lot of the raffle. The voluntary gymnastics association raised funds through a raffle and the pétanque club from a competition. The project was coordinated by the Solidarity Reception Point. Laurence Ausina, mayor, and Marie-Josée Viegas, vice-president of the Municipal Center for Social Action (CCAS), presented a total check for €5,240.
