Jennifer Aniston has urged her fans to support the Matthew Perry Foundation.
The former Friends actress highlighted the work of the charity – which was set up to help people battling addiction following the death of her friend last month – on Giving Tuesday, a day which follows the Thanksgiving holiday and which is dedicated to generosity.
She wrote on her Instagram Story: “For #GivingTuesday, please join me and Matty’s family in supporting his foundation, which works to help people suffering from addiction. He would have been grateful for your generosity.”
Matthew, who had spoken openly regarding his addiction issues, was found dead in the hot tub of his California home at the age of 54, but the cause of death has not yet been determined.
Giving Tuesday also motivated her father-in-law, Dateline journalist Keith Morrison, to speak out for the first time since the “17 Again” star’s death.
He wrote on X, the site formerly known as Twitter: “This isn’t the kind of thing I usually do. But this year is different. And tomorrow is Giving Tuesday. Do what you can; he would have been grateful.”
The Matthew Perry Foundation was launched on November 3, a week following the actor’s death, with the aim of “identifying addiction as a disease, tackling all the stigmas that prevent individuals from to seek and access care, and to advocate fiercely for better and fairer treatment.
