Latécoère, a leading aeronautical subcontractor, announced on January 25, 2023 that it wanted to relocate part of its activity, in particular its “factory of the future” in Montredon inaugurated in 2018. A real social carnage which will destroy nearly 150 jobs, without count the many temporary workers working on the activities threatened with relocation.
A relocation all the more scandalous as the “4.0” factory had been financed by numerous public funds. Indeed, the plant has benefited from state aid amounting to 5.4 million euros, but also from support of 55 million euros from the European Investment Bank, as well as of 786,000 euros in aid granted by the Occitanie region.
A few years following having stuffed itself with public money, the aeronautical subcontractor is preparing to relocate most of the site’s activities, while leaving more than a hundred families on the floor. The objective for the company is clear: to reduce its production activities in France to produce at a lower cost in the Czech Republic and Mexico, even if for this the company must deploy significant means for the transport of the machines, which would around 20 million euros.
For all these reasons, the workers at the Montredon site have been on renewable strike since 12 April. A mostly followed strike which shut down the machines of the factory. A situation that puts Latécoère management under pressure, which finds itself unable to deliver door hinges to Airbus and Dassault, in a context where the principals have full order books and are seeking to speed up production rates. . ” They will not last a month without our parts, in the factories that we deliver, they have nothing more to control, to paint… Their factories cannot function without us explains Thierry Ouvrier on the Montredon site.
A strike still as followed following more than eight days which puts strong pressure on the management of the company. The strike, which has now lasted for more than 12 days, obviously poses the problem of large wage losses for the mobilized workers, all the more so in a context of high inflation. Thus, the latter call for solidarity with a strike fund for which we invite all our readers to contribute.
Solidarity with the strikers is of crucial importance. All the organizations of the labor movement, of the youth and more broadly of the left, must support and shed light on this fight once morest relocation.
