Support for Little Daryo: Donations, Testimony, and Acts of Kindness

The family of little Daryo, 5, disfigured by his grandmother’s dog, did not have to wait long before receiving support from people affected by their story. As a reminder, while he was playing with his grandmother’s dog in the garden, Daryo was bitten in the face by the latter. His dad then intervened to get his son out of the mouth of the animal. The young Estinnois, unrecognizable, then had to be rushed to Jolimont hospital before being transferred to that of Saint-Luc in Brussels where he was hospitalized for several months.

In addition to the shock for the family, she now has to deal with the many costs that the daily trips to the hospital entail. A call for donations was then launched to allow volunteers to help them. It didn’t take long for little Daryo and his parents to see the first signs of support. Fabien Destrée, financial director of a company located not far from Saint-Luc hospital, is one of those people wishing to help Daryo’s family. It will make two parking spaces available to them this Friday.

A touching testimony

“When I was doing my daily press review, I came across the testimony of Daryo’s family. I was obviously moved by this situation and the call for help from the family. I saw that the parking fees are quite substantial for them. I then wanted to take action by providing them with two of our company’s parking spaces. It is located close to the Saint-Luc hospital. They will therefore only have to walk a few minutes to get there. They will be able to keep these two locations for the duration of their son’s hospitalization”, says Fabien Destrée.

After putting them in touch, the family was able to get in touch with Fabien. A meeting is scheduled for Friday to exchange access cards. “I was able to reach the family by phone. We will see each other this Friday so that I can give them access to two parking spaces for the duration of the hospitalization of little Daryo”, adds Fabien Destrée.

The family affected by Fabien’s gesture

A mark of solidarity which obviously affects the members of the family of little Daryo. “It’s really very nice of him. This will allow us to reduce our travel costs. We were paying 20 euros for parking per day, these places made available to us free of charge therefore considerably reduce our weekly bill linked to the hospitalization of our son”, explains Logan, the father of little Daryo.

People also wishing to help the family can make a donation on the mother’s account number: BE70 0016 9922 9125. “We have received support from a lot of people. This allows us to be stronger in this ordeal”, concludes Lindsay, the mother of little Daryo.
