The Medicines Agency has warned of strong supply tensions for Corgard (nadolol), a beta blocker prescribed in particular in cases of high blood pressure. It must be reserved as a priority for certain patients.
Medication Corgard 80 mg (nadolol), and beta blockers prescribed in cardiology for several indications including high blood pressureis currently the subject of strong supply tensions which should last until the end of the first quarter of 2024announcement the Medicines Agency (ANSM) in a press release dated October 30, 2023. This out of stock follows a lack of supply of raw materials according to the Cheplapharm laboratory which markets it. Therefore, this medicine should be reserved as a priority to patients in whom this medication cannot be substituted or stopped without life-threatening risk.. This concerns approximately 15,000 patients with rhythm disorders of genetic origin : congenital long QT syndrome and catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia.

► If you are taking this treatment, you will be contacted by your pharmacist then by your doctor (cardiologist or general practitioner).
► If you are being treated with Corgard (nadolol) for congenital long QT syndrome or catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia:
If you are already being followed in a rare disease reference or competence center specializing in hereditary or rare heart rhythm disorders, the doctor at this center will prepare and send you a new prescription for Corgard.
If you are followed by a community cardiologist or a general practitioner, they will will link with a specialized rare disease reference or competence center in hereditary or rare heart rhythm disorders, the only person authorized to issue your new prescription.
In these two cases, you will need to contact the center to request a Corgard prescription. You can then go to your usual pharmacy to obtain your treatment.
► If you are being treated by Corgard for another indication: your cardiologist or your treating physician will replace your medicine with another. Stocks of other treatments are available in sufficient quantities. With the exception of sotalol, the French Society of Cardiology (SFC) recommends using beta-blockers, such as: Atenolol (50 to 100 mg), Betaxolol (10 to 20 mg), Acebutolol (200 to 400 mg), Nebivolol (5 to 10 mg), or Bisoprolol (2.5 to 10 mg). If substitution with a beta blocker is not suitable, the SFC recommends replacing Corgard with a combination of other therapeutic classes (ACEI, ARA2, calcium channel blocker, diuretic).
