Supply chain problems weighed on Rosenbauer’s profits

Earnings before taxes (EBT) for the 2021 financial year almost halved from 51.5 million euros in 2020 to 27.5 million euros, and sales fell to just under one billion euros, the group announced on Friday. Rosenbauer already reduced its forecasts for 2021 significantly in December.

According to preliminary figures, Rosenbauer made sales of 975 million euros last year, following 1.044 billion euros the year before. The decline is mainly due to delayed vehicle handovers. As a result, sales would have shifted to the first quarter of 2022, according to the company. In addition, rising prices for materials and production disruptions due to non-functioning supply chains weighed on the business. Personnel costs have also increased slightly.

The weaker production output also affected the operating result (EBIT), which fell from EUR 57.9 million to EUR 34.0 million. The EBIT margin was 3.5 percent. The order situation, on the other hand, improved slightly, with incoming orders rising from around EUR 1.008 billion to EUR 1.064 billion. At EUR 1.145 billion at the end of the financial year, the order backlog was also above the previous year’s level (2020: EUR 1.072 billion).

For the current year 2022, Rosenbauer expects sales to exceed the billion mark once more. The EBIT margin should also reach the previous year’s level. Rosenbauer intends to publish the final figures on April 8th.
