LINZ. On Friday, July 28, at 8 p.m., superstar Eros Ramazzotti will enchant his fans at Klassik am Dom on Domplatz Linz, presented by Tips. In the Tips interview, the Italo bard tells, among other things, how he is doing as a new grandfather, Tips is also giving away 1×2 free tickets for the Linz Alex Reed performance.
Tips: In September, following four years, you released your new album – ‘Battito Infinito’ – in 2019 you had to take a forced break due to a vocal cord surgery. Would you describe the new album and the current tour as a small comeback?
Ramazzotti: I define ‘Battito Infinito’ as a new chapter in my musical career, but also as an expression of a concept close to my heart, namely universal love, which is also the leitmotif of all my songs. I deal with these themes in particular in the singles ‘Ama’ – an invitation to love as one wishes, without borders or barriers – and ‘Gli ultimi romantici’ – which tells the story of two people trying to find a To keep alive a reality that no longer exists. The time I spent away from the stage was very intense, I had the opportunity to reflect on what was happening inside and around me. I was undoubtedly touched by the horrible times we all went through and the long wait to perform once more spurred me on to make a great live comeback. The rhythms required by the tour are particularly intense, and to balance this I like to relax by occasionally riding my horse in the stillness of nature.
Tips: What do you feel most love for?
Ramazzotti: It may sound obvious, but what I love most is my family. I wouldn’t know how to live without my loved ones.
Tips: You wrote one of your biggest hits, ‘Sará, sará, Aurora’ for your daughter Aurora. She recently made her a proud grandfather. Can you give us a glimpse into your emotional world?
Ramazzotti: I am very excited and amused at the same time. I don’t know what kind of grandfather I will be but I’m sure my daughter and her partner will be wonderful parents and I can’t wait to take my grandchild to the studio to introduce them to the magical world of music , as I have done with my own children.
Tips: What is important to you to pass on to your children and grandchildren, perhaps also in view of the current crises and a terrible war in Europe?
Ramazzotti: Certainly the first piece of advice I would give you is to do everything with love. When you put passion and love first, you can never go wrong.
Tips: You’ve been on stage with great success for 35 years – hopefully many more years to come. Do you ever think regarding retiring?
Ramazzotti: Why should I? As long as I feel fit and healthy I will sing and perform all over the world. I feel at home on stage, I can’t imagine any other place!
Tips: You have sung wonderful duets – is there another wish you really want to do something with?
Ramazzotti: I have had the honor of collaborating with many Italian and international artists, from Tina Turner to Anastacia, from Luis Fonsi to Pavarotti, from Ricky Martin to Alejandro Sanz and many others. I haven’t thought regarding a next duet yet, but I had a lot of fun recording ‘Soy’ with Alejandro for my latest album. He’s an artist I respect a lot and we’re both happy with the feedback we’ve had from the audience.
Tips: They are currently on a big ‘Battito Infinito’ world tour. At Klassik am Dom in Linz you can look forward to a wonderful ambience and fabulous fans. Will you also have time to enjoy Linz and explore the city?
Ramazzotti: I don’t know if I have time for it as the touring schedule is always very busy, but when I get the chance I like to explore the cities where I perform. I hope I can because I’m sure Linz is a city full of charm and the people of Linz are great!
