During these last days and in the midst of the inflation that is affecting our country, some supermarkets are freezing prices to help Chilean families.

According to what was reported by Emol, Walmart Chile carried out the plan “Prices that do not touch” to maintain the prices of its products.

The initiative began on June 2 and will be in force until September 28. Among the products that are in this measure are meat, rice, milk, noodles, detergent, dishwasher, fruits and vegetables, among others.

The CEO of the company, Gonzalo Gebarastated that “we are committed to taking care of our customers’ budgets, and today more than ever we want to reinforce that they are not alone. For this reason, we will maintain the prices of a basic basket with important products for Chilean households until September 28.”

In addition, he stated that “Own Brands are part of Walmart’s defined strategy to keep more alive than ever the purpose of helping Chilean families to live better. We will continue working to offer the lowest prices and be the best purchase option and hand in hand with our own brands, offer the most convenient ticket on the market”.

Unimarc, the other option

This company also joined the initiative. They will prepare promotions on 150 products that will be announced this June.

SMU General Manager, Marcelo Galvezspoke with the newspaper El Financiero and assured that “we had not done it before because it requires negotiations and committing purchase volumes. One has to buy large volumes to be able to maintain prices for a period of time.”

In addition, he asserted that Unimarc will have its own brands, as Leader does. “They are good quality products at lower prices and consumers are moving towards that market. In this way we are going to take charge of helping Chilean families with the need to save,” he added.
