The second Malaysian SUPERMARKET in a supermarket chain that sells socks with Allah written on them was attacked using Molotov cocktails. This was revealed by the police of the neighboring country, Monday (1/4).
The incident occurred on Sunday (31/3), a day following a similar incident occurred in a different city.
“A glass bottle containing kerosene was thrown at a KK Supermart in Kuching, the capital of Sarawak,” local police chief Ahsmon Bajah said in an official statement.
A number of boxes containing mineral water, which were stacked outside the shop, caught fire as a result of the incident.
The two attacks came days following the supermarket chain’s top officials were accused of offending Muslims by selling the socks.
The image of the socks went viral on social media last month, sparking anger among Muslims who saw it as an insult. Especially because the socks are sold in the month of Ramadan.

Islam is the official religion in Malaysia and Muslims make up two-thirds of the country’s 34 million citizens.
KK Super Mart CEO Chai Kee Kan and his wife, who served as a director of the company, were charged last month for intentionally offending the feelings of Malaysia’s religious community.
Three officials from supplier Xin Jian Chang were also charged for the same thing.
The five have pleaded not guilty but face a maximum sentence of 1 year if found guilty.
KK Supermart, Malaysia’s second largest supermarket chain, has apologized for the incident and has stopped selling the socks. (AFP/Z-1)
