Super Mario movie premieres in October at New York Comic Con

Nintendo, which owns the IP, officially announced in 2018 that it had started making a Super Mario movie jointly with Illumination Entertainment, which is famous for ‘Superbad’. After that, on September 24, 2021, Nintendo Direct released specific information such as the cast list of the movie’s voice actors, which created a hot topic.

The main character, Mario, is played by Chris Pratt, who became famous in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. In addition, Anya Taylor-Joy from ‘Queens Gambit’ has been cast as Princess Peach and Charlie Day from ‘The Lego Movie’ has been cast as Luigi. Multi-entertainer Jack Black was chosen for the popular villain, Koopa.

Meanwhile, the Super Mario movie was originally scheduled to be released in December of this year, but Shigeru Miyamoto announced that it would be postponed to next year in order to improve the quality of the work. The film is set for release on April 7, 2023 in the United States and April 28, 2023 in Japan.
