The first animated Super Mario Bros. It is already an absurd success, surpassing US$ 1 billion at the box office around the world in a short period of time, but unfortunately, Nintendo and Universal Pictures are having serious problems regarding pirated copies of the feature.
After being shown illegally on an open TV channel in Argentina, several users are publishing the film in full and in high quality on Twitter.
One of the strictest restrictions on social networks refers to blocking the sharing of copyright-protected content. When a user posts something copyrighted, the content quickly gets taken down, because they are protected from liability under the Digital Millennium Act.
Even with these measures to protect rights holders, Elon Musk has fired the vast majority of Twitter’s trust and safety teams, while also increasing the length of videos you can post on the platform, which allows movies like Super Mario Bros.: The Movie to be shared on the network without much difficulty. A copy of the film has been live since April 28th and has amassed… 9.3 million views since being posted.
Many of those views came from the tweet below, which has 8.5 million views.
You might also find other titles like Avatar: The Way of Water on Twitter this way, but is Musk ready to pick a copyright fight with Hollywood’s biggest studios, or worse, Nintendo, which is known to be extremely protective of its properties?
