As one of the busiest railway networks in China, the Yangtze River Delta Railway will usher in heavy passenger flow during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Golden Week on the 29th. Data from major online travel booking platforms show that the “ultra-long Golden Week” provides favorable conditions for the popularity of medium and long-term travel. The “2023 Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Travel Consumption Trend Report” released by Tuniu shows that some users have already started their journeys on September 23, and nearly 30% of them will extend their travel into the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday. Domestic long-term travel continues to maintain its dominant position in tourism consumption, accounting for 49% of the total number of trips.
The “Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Travel Forecast Report” released by Ctrip shows that during this year’s Double Festival holiday, inter-provincial travel orders accounted for 73%, an increase of regarding 10% compared with the same period in 2022, and nearly 20% of users chose to stay for 3 days or more. Popular destinations for long-term travel are mainly concentrated in the northwest region, which is suitable for autumn tours, such as Urumqi, Lanzhou, and Dunhuang, as well as Sanya, Guangzhou, Xiamen and other places in South China with pleasant climates. During this year’s National Day holiday, concerts, music festivals, marathons and other events were held in many places, which became a significant driving force for tourism growth. In addition, this year’s National Day holiday is also the first long holiday following the optimization and adjustment of immigration policies, and outbound tourism is showing a further recovery trend.
