Super League: Zurich snatch a draw against Lucerne – rts.ch

The Super League has resumed following a 69-day hiatus. For the first match of 2023, Lucerne and FC Zurich parted ways in a 2-2 draw following a pleasant match.

Lucerne, however, seemed on the royal road, since Mario Frick’s men led 2-0 in the 89th. A generous penalty, granted by the VAR, had allowed Meyer to open the scoring (62nd). On the counter, Chader, who had previously shot the post (72nd), had doubled the Lucerne lead.

Entering the game in the 77th, Roko Simic (19) was to become the savior of the defending champion. The promising striker on loan from RB Salzburg reduced the score with a superb volley in the 89th minute before snatching the 2-2 in the 93rd.

It is ultimately a valuable and deserved point for the morale of the FCZ, still glued to the last place in the standings. And with Simic, the club may have found the striker it has been missing since the start of the season…
