As in the second descent the day before, no Swiss made it into the top 3 in St. Moritz in the final Super-G. Michelle Gisin finished fourth in Mikaela Shiffrin’s third win of the season.

Frequent starter Michelle Gisin has not been up to speed this winter. Before the Super-G in St. Moritz, she only placed in the top 10 in eleven races of the season, as eighth of the second downhill in Lake Louise. Otherwise, the Engelberger was mainly disappointed, especially in the technical disciplines. Fourth place in the Engadin was therefore a liberation for Gisin, who was less than two tenths short of his first podium since March.

In addition to Gisin (0.57 seconds back), only Lara Gut-Behrami from the Swiss Ski Team made it into the top ten. The Ticino finished eighth, 0.99 seconds behind. Behind Joana Hählen (13th), Corinne Suter (15th), the winner of the opening Super-G in Lake Louise, was only the fourth-best Swiss.

Shiffrin ahead of Curtoni and Miradoli

Mikaela Shiffrin celebrated her 77th World Cup victory, third this season (following the two slaloms in Levi) and fifth in the Super-G division. The American triumphed by twelve hundredths ahead of Elena Curtoni. The Italian won the first downhill in St. Moritz. Romane Miradoli from France secured third place (0.40 back).

Sofia Goggia, second on Friday with a broken hand and the superior winner following the operation in Milan on Saturday, had to settle for 5th place in the Super-G.

After the short Christmas break, the women’s World Cup will continue in Austria next week. Two giant slaloms and one slalom will take place in Semmering from December 27th to 29th.

  • Priska Nufer doesn’t pull the coals out of the fire

Apart from Michelle Gisin’s strong fourth place, it’s another disappointing result for the Swiss team today. Priska Nufer is only 19th.

  • Gagnon is eliminated

The Canadian Marie-Michèle Gagnon gets her hand caught and drives past the gate a little later. The next failure.

  • Nadine Fest is not even close to the front

  • Ortlieb is eliminated

Even before the first intermediate time, Nina Ortlieb’s race is over. The Austrian drives past a gate.

  • Holdener up strong…

… she only loses 0.05 seconds to Shiffrin, that’s intermediate 2nd place. But Holdener makes a few mistakes in the technical part of all things. At the same time as Kajsa Lie, she falls back to 17th place.

  • Kajsa Lie far back

The Norwegian with one faulty run and thus relegated to 17th place.

  • Bassino jumps past the gate

That hurts for Marta Bassino! The Italian is on course to attack Mikaela Shiffrin’s time, then crouches hard, misses a wave and sails wide.

  • Joana Hählen in 12th place

It is also a disappointment for Joana Hählen today. The Swiss loses half a second in the upper section of the glider and can no longer make up for the handicap. On the contrary, it loses even more time.

  • Rädler forgives it at the bottom

The Austrian is on her way to the top 10, but then gets caught in the snow that has slipped off in the lowest part of the track and thus misses out on a top place.

  • Worley far behind too

The next driver who gets a big deficit. Giant slalom specialist Tessa Worley loses 1.59 seconds. Intermediate 13th

  • Tippler gets a pack

No, that was nothing. Tippler loses 1.82 seconds and ranks at the bottom of the rankings.

  • Puchner löst Gut-Behrami ab

The Austrian is slightly faster than Lara Gut-Behrami and takes over her 7th intermediate place.

  • Lara Gut-Behrami loses a second

The next Swiss trump card doesn’t really stand out either. Lara Gut-Behrami comes up once morest a massive deficit in the glider section, then takes full risk, but it doesn’t pay off. 7th place, 0.99 seconds behind.

  • Miradoli pushes Gisin off the podium

The French Romane Miradoli with a very strong performance today! She finished third, pushing Michelle Gisin off the podium.

The Norwegian is fighting for third place once morest Michelle Gisin and narrowly loses this duel. Mowinckel ranks fifth in the intermediate classification.

  • Brignone clearly beaten

The Italian not with her best ride today. Brignone skis down the slope quite upright here and receives the receipt 1.25 seconds behind.

  • Curtoni narrowly behind Shiffrin

Elena Curtoni comes very close to Mikaela Shiffrin here. The Italian loses more than 0.2 seconds in the upper section of the glider. Otherwise she would have taken the lead here.

  • Goggia today not Goggia style

Sofia Goggia today with a very smooth ride. The Italian with a broken hand takes third place in a controlled manner and without risk, three hundredths behind Gisin.

  • Shiffrin takes the lead

Mikaela Shiffrin’s clear new best time. The American takes the lead with a lead of half a second.

  • Corinne Suter beaten

With the red start number as the discipline leader, Suter is going into today’s race. However, she does not live up to her role as a favorite and only takes fourth place. She’s going to be a long way behind.

  • Schmidhofer close to Gisin

Nicole Schmidhofer can keep up well with Gisin up to the last split. Shortly before the finish, however, she makes another mistake and then falls half a second behind the Swiss.

  • Gisin takes the lead

Yes indeed! Finally, Michelle Gisin gets through a ride without mistakes. She takes the lead with a lead of 0.59 seconds.

  • Hütter falls

The Austrian gets a bit off the track at the top, but is able to stay in the race – but only for the time being. A little later, Hütter falls, but apparently she was not injured.

  • Jasmine Flury misses the racing line

Flury has trouble at the top and that runs through her whole ride. Often she didn’t hit the line and so Flury finished behind Ramona Siebenhofer.

  • Siebenhofer opens the race

The Austrian masters the route first, but has some problems. Her 1:14.78 won’t be a best for long.
