Homemade milk bread
I’m sure you remember the times you ate this bread with butter and a delicious coffee. I have, without a doubt, always loved milk buns and to this day, they remain one of my favorites.
And so, we decided to make a homemade version, trying to simplify the recipe as much as possible and as a result, we got a fluffy and delicious bread that you need to try.
Where to bake my milk bread
Without a doubt, one of the characteristics of this bread is that it sticks together and is a little higher. To do this, the best tip is to let the dough rise a little closer together, so that when you put it in the oven, it stops sticking together.
For the total amount of dough described in this recipe, our suggestion is to use a dish of approximately
Furthermore, it is essential to grease your pan well with plenty of butter.
What is the right point for my bread?
As you may have noticed in the photos, our bread turned out very brown and we advise you to take it out a little before this happens. This is because, the longer it bakes, the drier the dough tends to be.
Therefore, the ideal point is to bake your breads until they are lightly golden. To do this, pay attention to some tips:
- Preheat your oven well so that it is at a high temperature when you place your breads to bake.
- However, when putting your bread in the oven, make sure it has a temperature of 200º, this way, you will leave your dough well baked, but there is no danger of it overcooking and overbaking just on the top;
- As soon as your bread comes out of the oven, it’s not ready yet, okay? It is essential to let it cool well before serving.

Ingredients
- 1 and 1/2 cup of milk;
- 6 tablespoons of butter;
- 3 tablespoons of sugar;
- 2 teaspoons of organic yeast;
- 2 eggs;
- approximately 5 cups of wheat flour;
- 1 teaspoon of salt;
- 1 yolk;
- 1 teaspoon of milk.
Instructions
- In a bowl (or a mixer), add the hot milk, butter and sugar and mix until the butter melts completely;
- When the milk is warm, add the yeast and let it rest until the mixture starts to foam, approximately 10 minutes;
- After this time, add the egg and beating at speed 1 of your planetary mixer, gradually add the flour. You may need a little more or less flour for the dough to start to come away from the bowl, so keep it that way;
- Beat on speed 1 for up to 8 minutes to activate the gluten in the dough and let it rest for 5 minutes;
- Then add the salt and beat for another 5 minutes at speed 2;
- Let your dough rise, covered with a clean cloth, for 40 minutes or until it doubles in size;
- Finish by dividing your dough into portions of similar size, and make folds as follows: stretch your dough into a rectangular shape. Then fold the side edges until they meet in the middle of the rectangle. And finally, roll it from the bottom up to form a roll that you will leave like that or join the ends to make a ball;
- Arrange on the greased tray leaving a small space;
- Let it rise for another 30 minutes and finish by brushing the yolk with the well-mixed olive oil;
- Bake in an oven at 200º for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden;
- Allow to cool before serving.
