The Kansas City Chiefs were crowned champions of the “Super Bowl” competition in American football, by defeating the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in the final, which was held in Glendale (Arizona). The title is the third for the Chiefs following 1970 and 2020, knowing that they lost the final in 2021 as well.
Patrick Mahomes overcame an ankle injury to lead his team to the coronation, and was named man of the match.
Chiefs supporters feared the worst when Mahomes was injured just before halftime, but he fought his nerves to overturn a 10-point deficit at halftime to a 3-point victory at the end of the game.
Mahomes said following the coronation: «I said before the match that nothing would prevent me from moving away from the field. I knew I wouldn’t be out of the match even though the injury to my ankle was getting worse during the match. I will take care of this during the break in preparation for the new season.
Mahomes, who won his second title, proved to be the best successor to American football legend Tom Brady, who won the title 7 times.
As for Eagles star Gaylen Hurts, he said following the match and seemed frustrated: “You either win or you learn. I am proud of this team. Naturally, we had a goal that we wanted to achieve, but we did not succeed in that.
The break between the two halves of the match witnessed the revival of the famous star, Rihanna, in her first appearance in six years.
