Sunrise says it is ready to face the crisis

The Sunrise network should operate smoothly next winter, even in the event of a power shortage, says the director of the telecommunications group, André Krause. According to him, the system can already compensate for short power cuts.

Although the real extent of a possible lack of electricity is not yet known, Mr. Krause, interviewed on Saturday in the German-speaking newspapers of the Tamedia press group, said he did not expect an uncontrolled breakdown of the Sunrise network. .

We are already able to buffer short power outages in our networks and data centers.

He puts forward two arguments: on the one hand, the Confederation has classified telecommunications networks as being of systemic importance and, on the other hand, Sunrise is prepared for such situations. “We are already able to absorb short power outages in our networks and data processing centers,” said the manager.

But, adds Mr. Krause, there are limits. “For the antennas, for example, the backup batteries are quickly exhausted.”
