Mumbai: Bengaluru won the first leg of the Indian Super League football first semi-final. A one-sided goal defeated the mighty Mumbai City FC.
Superstar Sunil Chhetri scored Bengaluru’s winning goal in the 78th minute of the game as a substitute. Roshan Naurem paved the way for the goal. Chhetri scored through the star’s corner kick header. Losing in front of their own crowd was a setback for Mumbai. The match was held at the Mumbai Football Arena.
Mumbai was ahead in possession and passing but might not score a goal. This is Bengaluru’s 10th win in a row. The second leg semi-final will be played at Srikanthirava Stadium in Bengaluru on 12th of this month. In the group stage, Mumbai reached the semi-finals directly as the top seed in 18 out of 20 games.
Bengaluru, who qualified for the play-offs as the fourth-placed team in the group stage, reached the semi-finals by beating Kerala Blasters in a controversial goal.
