Sungjae Lim tied for 8th in the PGA Tour’s first tournament of the year.
In the final round of the Sentry Tournament of Champions (total prize of $8.2 million) held at the Kapalua Plantation Course (par 73) on Maui, Hawaii, Im Seong-jae shot 4 under par 69 with 5 birdies and 1 bogey for a total of 24 under par 268. It tied for eighth place alongside Kevin Kisner of the United States.
Seongjae Lim, who participated in this tournament for the second time following last year, was ranked in the top 10 for two consecutive years following a tie for fifth place last year in this tournament, where only the winners of the previous year’s PGA Tour tournament can participate.
Im Sung-jae, who started in a tie for 4th, 6 shots behind the lead, caught his first birdie on the 4th hole (par 4), but he made a bogey on the 6th hole (par 4) and the uptrend was stopped.
After reducing one stroke in the first half with a birdie on the 9th hole (par 5), we finished with birdies on the 14th hole (par 4) and 15th hole (par 5) and birdies on the 18th hole (par 5).
Sungjae Lim’s shot was still sharp in the final round, but his putt was not as good as the previous day.
Australia’s Cameron Smith won four career wins following fierce competition with World No. 1 Spain’s Yonlam.
Smith cut eight strokes in the final round and climbed to the top with a total of 34-under, beating Yon Lam, who had caught up until the very end, by one stroke.
As they tied for the lead in the final round, Smith and Lam had a breathtaking match-play-like match.

Ram caught the birdie first, but Smith put a 2m birdie putt to put an end to the game.
Smith shot an 8-under 65 without a bogey, while Ram caught 7 birdies, reducing the number by 7.
Ram missed the championship, but maintained his world No. 1 position.
Australia’s Matt Jones drove 12-under with two eagles and eight birdies without a bogey in the final round, finishing third in a total 32-under solo.
Si-woo Kim cut three strokes and tied for 23rd with a total of 17-under, while Kyung-hoon Lee reduced his strokes by six and placed a tie for 33rd with a total of 13-under.
