In the first round of the tournament held at the Augusta National Golf Club (par 72) in Augusta, Georgia, USA, Seongjae Lim hit a 5-under 67 with an eagle, 5 birdies, and 2 bogeys.
Seongjae Lim took the lead alone, beating Cameron Smith (Australia, 4 under par 68) by one stroke.
This is the first time a Korean player has taken the lead on the first day of the Masters.
Seongjae Lim took second place in the Masters where he first played in 2020.
As soon as the game started, Seongjae Lim caught birdies on the 1st to 3rd holes in a row to gain momentum, and took the eagle on the par 5 15th to take the lead alone.
Tiger Woods (USA), who returned to the field following 16 months following the car accident, shot a revival by finishing tied for 11th with a 1-under-par 71 shot.
