The rector of the National University of San Marcos (UNMSM), Jeri Ramon RuffnerHe expressed how he feels in front of the press. According to statements given to the weekly Hildebrandt en sus Trece, the authority showed its anger with the media.
“They attack me because I am a woman. I have no money to pay and defend myself from so many fagots”, indicated the official before cutting off communication with a journalist. The use of the word “faggot” as a synonym for “cowardice” perpetuates stereotypes and stigma towards the LGTBIQ community.
A day later, Ramón decided to give an interview to said media outlet, where he mentioned that “he doesn’t care” if the National Superintendence of Higher University Education (Sunedu) denounces it, despite the fact that there is a judicial ruling ordered by the Judiciary.
“If few have come to election, surely because they fear Sunedu. I do not care. And so it would have been five, just like he did. I have to comply with the law. Now Sunedu says that she is going to report me. So what do you do? I don’t care what they say,” she said.
Along these lines, the current authority of the Dean of America emphasized his disagreement with what was applied by the Sunedu.
“She closed shell universities, of course. Under what criteria? I don’t know, but he also licensed universities that were in the pampas, ah. So, I don’t know what quality we’re talking regarding.” mentioned.
Finally, Ramón spoke regarding the election of two representatives of the universities to integrate the Board of Directors of the Sunedu.
“Let the Judiciary say what it wants, but due process exists here. The Judiciary is not above Congress. And if the Sunedu and Congress have a problem, it’s their mess. If the Constitutional Court says that everything is paralyzed, well, everything will come to nothing, but I must comply with the law of Congress and elect the two representatives”, he concluded.
