The National Superintendence of Higher University Education (Sunedu) ordered the start of a preliminary inquiry a the Technological University of Peru (UTP), taking into account the complaints made by studentsvia social networks and before the entity itself.
According to the Superintendency, the objective of this preliminary investigation is “have elements of judgment that allow elucidating any alleged violation of the University Law the related regulations”.
The facts
On the last Friday, August 5, students from different faculties such as Communication Sciences, Electronics, Mechatronics and Telecommunications of the UTP denounced that the house of studies modified the curriculum without authorization just a few months before the end of his professional career.
According to the testimonies gathered by La República, the UTP updated their curriculum this year 2022. However, the students affected in their enrollment process entered between the years 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, with a different study plan.
In this line, the students had to enroll in their last cycle, in which they would have between two or three missing courses. Nevertheless, when they entered the registration platform, they realized that the university added between five or eight subjects. Which would force them to take one more year of studies and pay new pensions.
This increase in courses due to the change in the curriculum would also have affected the students who completed the degree last cycle (July 2022), which would lead them to take one more cycle. “Last Tuesday, July 26 of this year, I finished my career courses, according to the curriculum. Yesterday I found myself with the surprise that I am missing seven courses, and today six courses appear that are of the business specialty, “said one of those affected.
“I finished all the courses in the March 2022-1 cycle and I should not have any pending courses. But now they have added courses to me, they cannot do that to the people who are graduating,” said another victim.
