According to legend, he lived to be 141 years old. Sun Simiao advocated health preservation and practiced it personally. It is precisely because he is proficient in health preservation that he can keep his eyes and ears alive following he is over a hundred years old.
The following is Sun Simiao’s health regimen, we might as well use it for reference.
Rub the palms together for 36 hours to make the palms warm, then sweep up from the forehead, and sweep back to the neck through the back of the head. Do it 10 times in the morning and evening. There are many important acupuncture points on the head, and regular “combing” can prevent headaches, tinnitus, white hair and hair loss.
Close your eyes, then forcefully open your eyes, circle the eyeballs, and look to the left, upper, right, and lower directions; close your eyes once more, forcefully open your eyes, circle the eyeballs, and look to the right, upper, left, and lower directions. Repeat 3 times. This helps in eye health and corrects nearsightedness.

It is best to do it 20-30 times every morning and evening. According to legend, this movement is the most proud health-preserving exercise of “Shiquan Old Man” Qianlong.
Put your feet side by side with your knees close together, squat down slightly, press your hands on your knees, twist left and right, and do 20 times each. It can strengthen the knee joints. The so-called “old people’s legs get old first, and the knees get soft first when the kidneys are deficient”. To prolong life, you should start with your legs.
Wipe the left foot with the right hand, and the right foot with the left hand. From the heel up to the toe, and then down to the heel for one stroke, do 36 times in total; rub the Yongquan point on the center of the foot with the thumbs of both hands in turn, do 100 times in total. The soles of the feet concentrate the reflection areas of the whole body organs. Regular foot rubbing can strengthen various organs, cure insomnia, lower blood pressure, and eliminate headaches.
Rub your hands 36 times, then sweep your face up and down following warming your hands. After warming up, draw circles with both hands outward at the same time. Doing this action often can make the face rosy and shiny without wrinkles.
Put your hands on your hips, close your eyes, lower your head, and slowly twist to the right until you return to the original position. Do this 6 times in total. Repeat in reverse direction. Doing it often can make the mind flexible and prevent cervical spine hyperplasia.
Walk lightly with your chest straight. It is best to have no distractions and enjoy the scenery along the way. There is a folk saying, “Take a walk following a meal and live to ninety-nine.”
