A group of executives from the Chilean financial market are part of Summit Ridge Capital Partners, a manager of alternative credits in emerging markets, which is associated with the institutional firms XP Asset Management and Polen Capital.

On June 1 they will launch the first fund “Summit Ridge Capital Partners Fund 1”, which seeks to develop an investment strategy in corporate debt in Latin America, according to a statement.

Summit Ridge Capital Partners is led by CEO Chris Park, who was managing director of Moneda Asset Management; Ignacio Guzmán, founding partner of the Emerging Markets Distressed and Special Situations team at Deutsche Bank; and Gregorio Velasco, former head of fixed income at Bci Asset Management.

Also part of the team are two senior analysts, Alexander Sideman and Lucas Vergara, who previously served as analysts at Moneda and more recently held positions at Asset AGF and HSBC Brasil.

Restructuring experience

The Chilean executive team has the experience of having structured and executed more than US$80 billion in credit restructurings and new capital financing in Latin America since 2005, the note highlighted.

“Our goal is to be the capital solution for companies in Latin America, as the difficult global economic environment, combined with the scarcity of capital for mid-sized firms on the continent, offers an opportunity to close the gap and provide investors with attractive risk-adjusted returns,” said Park, who serves as Summit’s CEO.

“We believe that many corporate issuers in the region, particularly midsize ones, are overlooked and misunderstood, creating market inefficiencies that Summit can selectively exploit,” said Polen Capital President Karl Dasher.
