Summer tournament | Boca and Independiente drew 0-0 in a friendly that had incidents between the fans

Boca and Independiente drew 0-0 in a very weak game in San Juan. It was the first game of the triangular International Summer Soccer, where Everton from Chile also plays.

With the presence of both fans and some incidents between the parties, the Argentine teams did not shine and were boring on their return to soccer activity, which served as the first preparation for the official competition.

The match began with both teams standing well in the middle of the field, without taking too much risk. El Rojo resigned possession of the ball, although Xeneize did not get impatient and tried to surprise with a long ball that took advantage of a diagonal by Sebastián Villa.

After the first ten minutes, neither team managed to bring danger to the goals guarded by Agustín Rossi, in Boca, and by Rodrigo Rey, in Independiente.

However, the first dangerous play came following a quarter of an hour. Iván Marcone recovered the ball and launched the counterattack for those from Avellaneda. The ball fell to Rodrigo Márquez on the right, who hooked into the middle and took a great shot that found a notable response from Rossi.

It was a run from Red, which almost instantly came back clearly. Matías Giménez got rid of two men and enabled Márquez who, face to face with the “one” from Boca, defined over the crossbar.

On the side of the blue and gold cast, he failed to connect plays that pose danger to Rey’s goal. The team led by Leandro Stitiliano was well off and cut off the paths before each Xeneize advance. The only clear one came following 35 minutes, with a Villa free kick from the left sector that went near the crossbar, in the last risky play of the first half.

Already in the second half, Hugo Ibarra’s team presented a variant: the entry of Javier García for Agustín Rossi, a change that was already agreed before the start of the match.

As in the first part, Red came out better off than Boca during the first moments.

Without great emotions for either of the two teams, at minute 22 the defender of Independiente Sergio Barreto saw the red card, who earned the second yellow card following a harsh offense once morest the Colombian Villa.

Averaging half an hour into the match, the match had to be suspended for a few minutes due to incidents between the two fans. The events occurred in one of the elbows of the Bicentennial stadium, where the fans threw different forceful elements at each other while the players tried to remain calm.

One of the few clear plays came just following 38 minutes. After a good combination down the left flank between Frank Fabra and Sebastián Villa, the latter put in a good cross that Paraguayan Oscar Romero managed to connect, although he sent the ball over the top.

As a result of the incidents in the stands, referee Yael Falcón Pérez added nine minutes. However, none of the teams knew how to take advantage of it and the final moments of the match passed uneventfully.
