Summer talk: SPÖ and ÖVP criticize Kickl, the FPÖ criticizes the ORF

In the ORF summer talk on Monday, FP leader Herbert Kickl lashed out at ÖVP and SPÖ, and the counterattack promptly followed on Tuesday.

VP General Secretary Christian Stocker compared Kickl’s appearance to an “underhanded mudslinging” and said the FP leader lacked any stature for the chancellorship. Rather, Kickl was a dangerous security risk, argued Stocker. He based this on the fact that Kickl announced that he would forego the SkyShield missile and drone protection umbrella, and on the fact that he changed his mind about messenger surveillance.

Protest action by Wandel

SP federal manager Klaus Seltenheim warned once again on Tuesday against the blue-black coalition, saying that only the SPÖ could save Austria from a Chancellor Kickl. He wants to reduce taxes for large corporations and rejects fair taxes for millionaires, and there are no plans to finance these tax gifts. It is therefore clear that under the blue-black coalition there is a risk of massive cuts in health, pensions and education. Seltenheim also took a swipe at Stocker. The fact that Stocker complains that the FP has copied the black economic program shows that there is no room for agreement between the two parties.

The FPÖ itself took aim at the ORF today, which, according to FP general secretary Christian Hafenecker, had once again shown on Monday that it was a “propaganda agency financed by compulsory taxes and the public arm of the system”. He also sharply criticized the way moderator Martin Thür conducted the interview. Hafenecker was also outraged that the protest action by the Change Party using posters and boats was not stopped early on and was even given airtime on ZIB2.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, the Freedom Party will present its election manifesto. The podium will be filled with prominent figures: In addition to Kickl, National Council members Susanne Fürst and Dagmar Belakowitsch will also be taking part.
