“Greek refineries sell fuel according to international prices”
From Crete, the vice-president of Heraklion gas sellers, Fotis Doxastakis, confirms that transport costs burden the situation on the islands. In Crete the increase is not so blatant although due to smaller gas stations and consumption there is a difference, said Fotis Doxastakis and added: “We are shrinking our profit but the consumer does not understand it. Daily appreciations in international prices do not facilitate stabilization. Greek refineries sell fuel according to the international prices that are fixed for the whole of August”.
Compared to the countries of Europe, Greece remains the champion in fuel prices in the eurozone as it is in second place in terms of accuracy after the Netherlands, but where incomes are much higher. Greece ranks third in accuracy across the European Union, behind the Netherlands and Denmark where incomes are much higher.
