While the pros at Austria Klagenfurt recharge their batteries on vacation, people are busy working behind the scenes on the plan for summer preparations for the 2023/24 season in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga. On June 26th, Peter Pacult is asking for the first training session, and team manager Sandro Zakany has already arranged four friendlies.

On July 1, the violets present themselves to their fans for the first time in competition, then it’s off to DSG Ferlach, which this year confidently won the championship in 1st class D and, in addition to the 60th club anniversary, celebrated promotion to the lower league. Austria coach Pacult and his team should therefore expect a festival atmosphere at the facility in Austria’s southernmost municipality.

In terms of sport, the Ferlacher should hardly prove to be a stumbling block, but on July 7th the Bundesliga sixth of the past series will face the first challenge in this regard. At the ASKÖ Gmünd pitch, the Waidmannsdorfers meet the second division team FC Liefering, the second-placement of series champions Red Bull Salzburg. Kick-off is at 3 p.m.

It continues on July 11 (5 p.m., Glanegg) with the test once morest DSV Leoben, who, under coach Carsten Jancker, celebrated promotion to the ADMIRAL 2nd division as champions of the middle regional league. With goalkeeper Zan Pelko, defender Florian Freissegger and midfielder Philipp Hütter, three ex-Austrians played their part in this success.

Finally, on July 15, there will be a reunion with the opponent from the relegation in summer 2021, the SKN St. Pölten. At that time, the Pacult team prevailed in both games (4:0, 1:0) and made it into the upper house. The Lower Austrians finished the previous second division series in third place. The test will be held in Welzenegg and kicked off at 3 p.m.

It is still unclear whether the violets will hold a summer camp in the region for a few days as part of the preparation for the 2023/24 season. Further test matches might be arranged at short notice. The first round of the ÖFB Cup is scheduled for July 21-23, with the ADMIRAL Bundesliga beginning a week later. The cup draw will take place on Sunday, the fixture list is expected over the course of the coming week.
