Limbach-Oberfrohna. The summer holidays are now in their second half. Although the weather is currently a bit unstable, there is a lot to experience in the large district town, both outdoors and in various facilities.

Farming Museum in Dürrengerbisdorf

Tomorrow, Sunday, you can once again visit the farmer’s museum in Dürrengerbisdorf. The Dreiseitenhof at Talweg 6 is open to visitors from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. A highlight is always climbing the old hayloft, for which you should be brave.

Leisure pool “Limbomar” open again

From Monday, the “Limbomar” leisure pool will be open again after its summer closing time. There you can swim and have a sauna regardless of the outside temperature. A playground is also available.

The “Sonnenbad” in the community forest is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. when the weather is nice.

America animal park

The animals at the America Zoo seem to feel happier now that the temperatures are slightly lower. Visitors’ favorites are currently the little arctic foxes, who romp around wildly in their facility. The park is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and half an hour longer on weekends.

Roller skating on the Johannisplatz

It’s also more comfortable for roller skating on Johannisplatz now. The cable car is open on weekdays from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. After the “Neon Party” last Saturday, a “Rockabilly Night” is coming up on August 5th. There are also suitable drinks and program items. Roller skates can be hired on site.

Holiday offers in the Esche Museum

There are also some holiday offers in the Esche Museum itself. A two-day workshop will be held on August 8th and 9th for young people aged 12 and over and young adults, in which an oversized shirt will be sewn. The focus is on the sustainable use of textiles: the pattern allows for economical fabric consumption, and the fabrics used are “made in the Esche Museum”. Fashion and textile designer Virginia Reil will lead the workshop. The two-day workshop runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sewing machine basic course on August 16th

In the basic sewing machine course on August 16 from 2 to 4 p.m., children from the age of eight learn the first steps in working with the sewing machine. It shows how a sewing machine is constructed, how upper and lower threads are attached and which types of stitches are possible. Then the participants can try the machine themselves, make stitches and make a small bag. Interesting facts about the different types of fabric are conveyed as background knowledge. The number of participants is limited.

Watercolor painting on August 17th

With watercolor painting, atmospheric pictures can be conjured up or drawings artistically colored. In the course on August 17, the children will learn the special features of watercolor painting and create their own small works of art. This course also runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and is suitable for children from the age of eight.
