Works on the holiday route: here are the 10 construction sites that will disrupt your departure for the sun

The big construction site this summer will take place in Hélécine. The E40/A3 motorway which crosses the municipality will see its upper surface redone from the Brabant municipality to Lincent, in the province of Liège. The work will only be done in the direction towards Liège. From early August until October, two traffic lanes per direction will be maintained. For the work, a budget of four million is planned by Sofico.

For projects already underway in the young province. The main dossier is the continuation of work on the Ring from Braine-l’Alleud towards the Flemish region. The ring is between works, since June 26, between exits 25 (Butte du Lion) and 29 (Argenteuil) for changes of coatings. At the same time, a third lane will be built between exit 26 bis (Mont-Saint-Jean) and 27 (Waterloo). The speed will be limited to 50/km at night until July 18. But the most constraining is the two closures of the ring. One is scheduled from Friday August 4 at 10 p.m. to Monday 7 at 4 a.m. between Genappe and Groenendael towards Brussels. A diversion is organized towards the western ring by Wauthier-Braine. Another closing of the ring will take place on Friday August 11 to Monday 2 at 4 a.m. between exit 24 Lillois/Braine-l’Alleud and Waterloo (exit 27). For diversion, you will have to go through the ring through the Haut-Ittre interchange and for local traffic, exit 24 Lillois-Braine is open.

Securing the premises, re-asphalting and three-lane passage: a major construction site will affect the Brussels ring from Monday

With regard to the Jodoigne bypass, a new roundabout will be created along the N29, near the ALDI. The structure will therefore link the chaussée de Charleroi to the N240, chaussée de Wavre. It will complete the future bypass which will relieve congestion in the city centre. The end of the work was normally scheduled for the end of May, but delays linked to contractors are shifting the schedule. At the level of the bypass, there will be traffic lights until the end of November but they will be removed from this Friday 7 until July 31. Traffic will then be on one lane per direction with the speed limited to 30 km/h.

The road was closed the first weekend of July and is now accessible again towards Wavre but closed towards Perwez. This will be in effect until July 14. To complete the rest of the work, from July 31 to the end of August, the cycle path will be installed. Traffic lights will be installed to allow the alternation of vehicles.

End clap for the work on the Bierges rest areas

The transformation work on the two Bierges motorway service areas began at the end of June 2021. The end of the works was announced for last fall. Finally, they will end only during this summer. There are only a few developments of green spaces left, announces the Sofico. This redevelopment of the Bierges areas includes the replacement of buildings. They were rebuilt with recyclable materials and energy needs are provided by photovoltaic panels. The spatial organization has been revisited for pedestrian safety and to facilitate user journeys.

In the direction of Brussels, 86 parking spaces have been created, 50 for heavy goods vehicles and four for people with reduced mobility. In the other direction, towards Namur, 122 spaces are provided for cars, 35 for trucks and still four for people with reduced mobility. Charging stations have also been installed for electric vehicles.
