Sexually Transmitted Diseases are on the rise and the ECDC is sounding the alarm ahead of summer holidays and festivals.

Men who have sex with men are at risk for mpox (formerly monkey pox), for example, which is spread primarily through skin-to-skin contact, including during sex. mpox can also be spread to others even before symptoms start.

The ECDC also reports that some infections that cause severe diarrhea – such as Shigella and hepatitis A – are also spread among men who have sex with men.
It is also recommended not to share sex toys and to ensure proper cleaning and disinfection following use and between partners.
