Summary of games in the QMJHL, Friday, January 20, 2023

Quebec Remparts pilot Patrick Roy became the sixth coach in QMJHL history to win 500 wins in a 5-2 win over the Rimouski Océanic on Friday in one of seven games on the program in the QMJHL.

Among the six coaches who reached this plateau, Roy is the one who reached it the fastest, in his 815th game behind the bench.

Richard Martel (589), Guy Chouinard (569), Yanick Jean (553), Mario Durocher (546) and Réal Payment (541) rank ahead of Roy in QMJHL history.

None of the other five who reached that plateau before him had done so in less than 948 games.

Théo Rochette led the Remparts attack with two goals and an assist.

James Malatesta had a goal and an assist.

Charle Truchon and Davis Cooper have the others for Quebec.

Zachary Bolduc has two assists, giving him 28 points in his last 13 games and becoming the third player to reach the 70-point mark.

Julien Béland and Luka Verreault provided the answer for the Océanic.

4-point game for Lawrence; eighth in a row for Halifax

Josh Lawrence found the back of the net three times and added an assist as the Halifax Mooseheads easily beat the Saint Sea Dogs 8-1. John.

Halifax signs an eighth straight win.

After Brady Burns tied the game 1-1 early in the second period, the Mooseheads scored seven unanswered goals to get away with the game.

It was goalkeeper Ventsislav Shingarov who fell victim to Halifax’s eight goals. He faced a total of 39 shots.

Lawrence’s performance allows him to take his total goals to 28 since the start of the season.

Brody Fournier and Braeden MacPhee had one goal and one assist each.

Other goals in the win were scored by Logan Crosby, Brady Schultz and Owen Phillips.

Alexandre Doucet had three assists.

Ten minutes of hell for the Huskies

The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies exploded with six goals in less than ten minutes in the second period to beat the Drummondville Voltigeurs 7-1.

Four of the Huskies’ seven goals have come on the power play.

Thomas Verdon had a four-point night. In addition to collecting his tenth goal of the campaign, he added three assists to his record.

Bill Zonnon scored two goals while Édouard Cournoyer and Anthony Turcotte each had one goal and two assists.

Louis-Philippe Fontaine and Jakub Hujer have the others in victory.

Despite the scoring gap, Thomas Couture did well in front of the Huskies net, facing a flurry of 41 shots.

The timid response from the Voltigeurs came from Sam Oliver.

Labelle inspire les Wildcats

Vincent Labelle found the back of the net twice within 2:05 of the first period and added an assist to guide the Moncton Wildcats to a 5-3 win over the Cape Breton Eagles.

Five of the game’s eight goals came in the first period.

Jonas Taibel, Maxim Barbashev and Alexis Daniel in an empty net have the others in the win.

Charles Beaudoin and Oscar Plandowski had two assists each.

For the Eagles, the reply came from Charles Boutin, Olivier Houde and Samuel Johnson.

Sags take advantage in under 30 seconds

The Chicoutimi Saguenéens spun in the third period to defeat the Acadie-Bathurst Titan by a score of 5 to 3.

The Titan was in control of the game 2-1 following 40 minutes of play. Romain Rodzinski tied the game 9 minutes 31 seconds into the third period. Just 18 seconds later, Ben Allison put the Titan ahead with his 25e countryside fillet.

It only took 14 seconds to see the red light flicker once more. It was the light behind Titan goaltender Sergei Litvinov that lit up when Samuel Vachon scored the third goal in just 32 seconds.

Marek Beaudoin gave the Sags a two-goal cushion just over a minute later and Andrei Loshko put the game out of reach for the Titan with the insurance net followingwards.

Emmanuel Vermette also beat Litvinov who ended his night with 25 saves. At the other end of the ice, Charles-Antoine Lavallée saved 22 pucks.

The Armada curbs its losing streak

Justin Carbonneau’s third goal of the season midway through the third period gave the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada a 2-1 victory over the Drakkar in Baie-Comeau.

Carbonneau scored at 10:33 on the power play on a pass from James Swan.

This victory allows the Armada to stop a series of four losses, including two losses in tiebreaker during this sequence.

Jonathan Fauchon put Blainville-Boisbriand ahead at 11:12 of the first period with his 23rd of the season on a power play.

Charles-Thomas Larochelle was the only scorer for the Drakkar, who suffered a second straight defeat.
