Summary and update of HCSP opinions relating to the Ebola virus disease (EVD)

The HCSP summarizes and updates in the form of a document the recommendations relating to the Ebola virus disease (EVD) resulting from its opinions published in 2014/2015, taking into account the evolution of scientific knowledge.

This report describes EVD and the virus responsible, its modes of transmission, defines the classification of cases and contact persons and describes their clinical-epidemiological evaluation as well as the organization of the management of suspected, possible or confirmed persons.

Hygiene measures and the protection of health personnel are particularly detailed, as are the management of IHAs and the disinfection of premises.

In addition, the specific and symptomatic therapeutic aspects, taking up the elements of the Ebola RPMO (Operational multidisciplinary professional recommendation) of the national COREB mission (operational coordination, epidemic and biological risk) which are at the forefront, are recalled.

The specificities of pediatric and gyneco-obstetric care are specified.

Finally, ethical considerations and communication to the general population and to health professionals are discussed.

This substantial argument serves as the basis for recommendations on the management of patients, healthcare professionals and other personnel, ethics and communication.

These recommendations are supplemented by technical data sheets detailing the management and hygiene and protection measures for personnel.

This report responds to the referral from the Directorate General for Health of February 13, 2019.
