Veteran actress Sulochana Latkar, who acted in more than 300 films in Marathi and Hindi films, passed away. He was 94 years old. He was undergoing treatment in a hospital in Mumbai. The last rites will be held at the Shivaji Park crematorium on Monday.
Last day there was news that Sulochana was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai. His daughter Kanchan Ghanekar said that he was suffering from shortness of breath and other diseases common to old age. The actress was admitted to ventilator following her health deteriorated.
According to the report, Sulochana has been struggling with age-related ailments since March. Earlier they were admitted to the hospital but were discharged following three weeks of treatment. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had come forward to help the actress by allocating Rs 3 lakh to the hospital from the Chief Minister’s fund. He also promised to bear the medical expenses.
Sulochana was born on July 30, 1928 in Mumbai, India. Sulochana started her acting career in the 1940s and became a leading actress in both languages. She acted in several films and was recognized for her diverse performances. ‘Naagin’ (1954), ‘Mr & Mrs ’55’ (1955), ‘Sree 420’ (1955) and ‘Dosti’ (1964) are some of her notable Hindi films. In Marathi cinema, she appeared in films like ‘Vahinichi Maya’ (1954), ‘Snehalatha’ (1955) and ‘Chandanachi Choli Ang Ang Jali’ (1975).
