The Sudanese army commander, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, announced on Tuesday evening a unilateral ceasefire on the first day of Eid Al-Adha.
In a speech broadcast on Sudanese television, Al-Burhan said:
The Sudanese Armed Forces are keen on the transfer of power to a civilian government chosen by the people. Anyone who can bear arms should go to the nearest military unit to counter the rebellion. The rebels committed abuses once morest civilians. The scale of the conspiracy requires that everyone be prepared to address the existential threats to our nation. The Sudanese state collapsed on it conspiracies. Greetings to our great army as they write history in confronting mercenaries. On the occasion of Eid al-Adha, the armed forces announce that the first day of Eid will be a unilateral ceasefire.
The commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo, known as “Hamidti”, for his part also announced earlier a truce that includes the two days of the Arafah stand and the first days of Eid al-Adha (Tuesday and Wednesday).
The manifestations of the blessed Eid al-Adha this year were absent from several Sudanese regions, in light of the continuation of the battles and the flight of many residents to safer places.
