The Sudanese army commander, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, warned of the spread of the war to other states in the country, while the Sudan Doctors Syndicate announced an increase in the number of civilian casualties as a result of the clashes.

Al-Burhan added, in a telephone interview with a local TV channel, that he seeks to lay down real foundations for stopping the fighting, including withdrawal from residential areas.

He also welcomed all initiatives that spare the blood of the Sudanese, but stressed the importance of evacuating residential areas from the armed presence, noting that “it is not possible to talk regarding a ceasefire” without fulfilling that condition.

In parallel, the Sudanese army accused the Rapid Support Forces of “looting UNICEF stores and containers at a customs station,” according to a statement published on Monday.

Intermittent clashes

He added that “the operational situation is stable in all states of the country,” except for some clashes with groups of the Rapid Support Forces in some parts of the capital.

In turn, the Sudan Doctors Syndicate announced that the number of civilian casualties as a result of the clashes in the country had risen to 487, in addition to 2,612 injured.

“Clashes are still taking place between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces for the twenty-third day in a row, which resulted in more victims being counted until the moment the report was issued in the capital and the regions,” the union added in a statement.

Injuries and deaths

And the statement continued that there are many injuries and deaths that have not been counted and that they were unable to reach hospitals due to the difficulty of movement and the security situation in the country, according to the “Arab World News Agency.”

It is noteworthy that Sudan has witnessed clashes since the middle of last month between the army forces and the Rapid Support Forces, following the collapse of the framework agreement negotiations on reaching a civilian government in the country.
