After impeachment of Omar al-Bashir, in April 2019, Mohamed Hamdane Daglo has gained further influence and is even one of the richest men in the country.
In October 2021, when the Sudanese army led an operation once morest the transitional government to take power by force, Mohamed Hamdane Daglo supported the action to oust civilians from power. Result: the head of the RSF and the head of the army unite to occupy key positions.
Mohamed Hamdan Daglo becomes vice-president of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of Sudan, while the head of the army, Abdel Fattah al-Burhane takes over the presidency.
It is these two men who are tearing each other apart today once morest a backdrop of violence. Tou two claimed on Saturday to control strategic sites in Khartoum as heavy fighting rages between Sudanese army troops and militiamen from the Rapid Support Forces.
