On the 6th day of clashes between the troops of Generals al-Burhane and Daglo on Thursday, shooting and explosions continue in Khartoum. The belligerents having ignored the truce decreed the day before. Under the cloud of black smoke, life is increasingly difficult. Residents are without water and electricity.

“I would say that life in Khartoum today is still marked by anxiety and exhaustion. People have been without electricity and water since fighting began last Saturday. Power was restored yesterday. We try to conserve energy as much as possible. In Sudan, electricity is prepaid, so people who are connected to the electricity grid face difficulties, they are not able to buy their electricity easily, banking applications do not work, mobile applications do not work either. says Tagreed Abdin, Program Manager and Architect.

It’s a water rush for the residents of the capital. You have to brave the shots and travel long distances in the hope of finding the precious liquid. Residents have to carry empty barrels and plastic containers across the capital to fill up with water from a reservoir.

“It’s a big water problem, people are suffering a lot, even people can’t find mineral water to buy in the shops, we call on the officials to move and do something, even the civil defense or the police, to bring water tanks for people who are affected and who need it. »; says Mohammad Qasem, a resident of Khartoum.

In this slow-moving city, several businesses have lowered their curtains. Finding food is no longer an easy task.
