Vice-President of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant-General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), warned that the security services would not play their role in imposing security in the Sudanese states. He added in an interview with Sudanese Radio yesterday that the sit-ins and chaos in the capital, Khartoum, affect the prestige of the state.
Hemedti expressed his hope that the Sudanese parties would cooperate to achieve consensus and form a government that would lead to holding elections.
He called for dialogue and the formation of a government that leads to elections, saying that dialogue in Sudan is continuing, and said: “We want to get out of strife.” Hemedti confirmed that the warring tribes in the state of Blue Nile in southeastern Sudan will sign a peace agreement within days, saying, “We have come a long way in reconciliations in the Blue Nile, and peace will be signed and the prestige of the state will be imposed.
At the same time, the Vice-President of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council expressed that the government is determined to impose the prestige of the state following the reconciliations it concluded in Darfur, and to work on returning the displaced to their original villages, stressing the need to work on addressing the roots of the problem, implementing security arrangements, and not allowing the bearing of arms. And stop the unjustified sedition, and not to exploit freedom in an improper way.
