While regional efforts and mediations continue to push for a solution to the crisis and the military fighting that erupted in Sudan between the army and the Rapid Support Forces 3 weeks ago, a member of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, and Lieutenant General Yasser Atta, decided not to negotiate with the “rebels” in reference to the Rapid Support Forces and its leader, Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo. Nicknamed Hamidati.

He said, in an intervention with Al-Hadath, today, Tuesday: “There is no negotiation or contact with Hamidti until following he is brought to justice.”

The priority is to win the battle

He also considered that “the collapse of the forces of the so-called Rapid Support Forces has begun,” adding that those forces were established to protect the former regime (the regime of ousted President Omar al-Bashir). He stressed that “those militias rebelled once morest the state, and began plundering the country’s resources.”

He also stressed not to negotiate with the militias and the priority is to resolve the battle, adding that any political mediation will not succeed at the present time.

Complete control of the army

With regard to the field situation, he explained that the military battles led to the army’s complete control over all parts of Sudan, with the exception of a few pockets in two states, as he put it.

As for the capital, Khartoum, he indicated that the Rapid Support Forces have mobilized all their forces there, and the clashes are still continuing.

In addition, he stressed that the armed forces are coherent and balanced, promising to announce a decisive victory soon. He accused the RSF of taking shelter in neighborhoods and streets crowded with civilians, so the army refrained from bombing them, which delays the decision a bit.

However, he made it clear at the same time that plans were drawn up for the sake of decisiveness and the liberation of all regions, according to him.

These statements came as the UN envoy, Volker Peretz, confirmed earlier today to Al-Arabiya / Al-Hadath that the two warring parties agreed to send their representatives in order to hold technical talks aimed at establishing a permanent ceasefire. However, he made it clear at the same time that these talks, which follow a Saudi initiative, are not political between the two sides.

Since the outbreak of the conflict between the two military forces on April 15, Sudan has been experiencing a catastrophic crisis, according to the description of the United Nations. As the fighting led to the displacement of thousands, while most hospitals in Khartoum and other states, especially in Darfur, were out of work.

While more than 500 civilians were killed and regarding 5,000 injured, according to the Sudanese Ministry of Health.
